What should you say to someone returning from Umrah?

Lifestyle

The Umrah is a life-changing journey for every Muslim. When greeting someone returning from this sacred pilgrimage, it’s meaningful to offer words of blessing, often inspired by the Qur’an and Sunnah.

One recommended phrase is: “Al-hamdu li-Llâhi-lladhî bi-ni’matihi tatimmu-s-sâlihât” (Hadith), expressing gratitude for Allah’s blessings.

The Prophet (PBUH) also encouraged invoking blessings for others, especially when pleased by their achievements, as narrated by Abu Ya’la and authenticated by Sheikh Al Albani.

When welcoming a traveler returning from Umrah, you may say “Allahoumma Barik” (May Allah bless them), or “Taqabbal Allahou mina wa minka” (May Allah accept from you and us).

Another simple but heartfelt greeting is “Umrah Mubarak” (Blessed Umrah).

Ultimately, any phrase that conveys joy, empathy, and blessings is appropriate for the occasion.
